Four administrative health units in Guaratinguetá are set to benefit from a solar energy project worth more than one million reais. The initiative involves the installation of over two hundred and ten photovoltaic panels, as well as LED lighting and new air conditioning systems.
As announced by the EDP company, approximately 212 photovoltaic panels are expected to be installed at eight public health centers across the city. Additionally, seven air conditioners and twenty-seven conventional light bulbs will be replaced with more energy-efficient models. This is estimated to reduce annual electricity consumption for municipal services by around 227 megawatt-hours.
The project aims not only to lower energy costs but also to contribute to environmental sustainability. According to the company, it would avoid approximately 10,43 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The total cost of R$1 million is part of a program regulated by the Aneel (Brazilian Energy Regulatory Agency).
The implementation work will begin in November and should be completed within six months.
Mayor Junior Filippo emphasized that cost savings from energy bills can now allow more investments in public health services and other critical areas. The mayor added: ‘We will spend less on electricity, improve service efficiency, and also contribute to environmental preservation, mainly by having additional resources available for continued investments in healthcare and other important sectors.’
